The Center for Continuing Education (CCE) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) plays a key role in providing accredited continuing education that supports the development and performance of healthcare professionals.
The UNMC Center for Continuing Education is a dedicated partner in advancing knowledge, improving professional practice, and ultimately enhancing patient care through impactful continuing education. In partnership with the College of Nursing’s Continuing Interprofessional Development and Innovation (CiPDI), UNMC has achieved Joint Accreditation with Commendation, enabling CCE to offer interprofessional continuing education for all members of the healthcare team.
The primary goal of UNMC’s Continuing Education programs is to offer accredited continuing education that addresses gaps in professional practice. By doing so, Continuing Education enhances the skills, strategies, and performance of healthcare teams, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes for interprofessional audiences, reaching local, regional, national and international participants.
What UNMC Continuing Education Offers:
- Accredited CE Activities: We provide a wide range of activities, including clinical courses offered in live, virtual, and on-demand formats.
- Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS): Ongoing educational opportunities such as Grand Rounds, Tumor Boards, Case Conferences, and Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) Conferences.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Training: As an AHA training center, we offer EMS & Trauma courses, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Accredited Professions: Credit is available for a wide range of healthcare professionals across the interprofessional team, including but not limited to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, advanced practice providers, mental health professionals, and social workers.
How We Can Work Together:
- Collaborative Development: Interested in creating a CE-accredited activity? We’re eager to partner with you to design and deliver educational activities.
- Accreditation Process: To meet accreditation standards, it's important to involve the CE department from the beginning of your planning process. This ensures that credit can be properly granted and abides by the various healthcare profession requirements.
- Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE): We encourage you to plan activities that engage the entire healthcare team. IPCE activities are specifically designed by teams, for teams, to foster collaboration and improve healthcare outcomes.
- CCE Fees: As a self‑funded center, CCE charges service fees. Current pricing information is available upon request or through internal resources.
We express gratitude for continued collaboration and encourage reaching out for further information or assistance with continuing education needs.
