At the UNMC College of Public Health, we are driven by a singular, audacious vision: Healthiest people, everyone, everywhere.
This is not just a goal; it is our relentless pursuit. We are a community of disruptors and problem-solvers—students, faculty, alumni, and partners—who refuse to accept the status quo. While we are experts in responding to public crises, our true passion lies in the "before"—in the creative, bold solutions that prevent health challenges from ever taking root.
We are ushering in a new era of public health. This era is grounded in social justice, fueled by community engagement, and powered by innovative practices that move knowledge from the classroom into the streets and economic, social, and political systems where it belongs.
Why We Are Different
Our impact is built on the power of partnership. As a vital pillar of a world-class academic medical center, we work hand-in-hand with state and local health departments, corporate leaders, and community advocates. Together, we are helping make Nebraska a regional and national model for health – and we are now scaling those successes to improve lives globally.
For our students, located across the globe, this means an unparalleled learning environment. You won’t just study public health; you will practice it in real-time, gaining a competitive edge in a global market that demands leaders who are ready for the public health of the future.
Meeting the Moment
The challenges we face are unprecedented. From the existential threat of climate change and the persistent sting of health inequities to the complexities of reproductive freedom, chronic disease, and the looming shadow of the next pandemic—the world needs public health leaders more than ever.
The UNMC College of Public Health is ready. We are capitalizing on the vast talent and diverse perspectives of our network to create groundbreaking models for disease prevention and health promotion.
The world is waiting for what we do next. Join us, and let’s create a healthier world together.
Sincerely,
Ali S. Khan, MD, MPH, MBA
