The medical student evaluation committee considers the following when determining the consequences for a failing grade performance:

Phase 1

  • Failure of a single block which will be remediated. The medical student evaluation committee will be notified of the block failure, and communication will be sent to the student outlining expectations and available resources.
  • Failure of a second block which will be remediated. The medical student evaluation committee will be notified of the block failure. The medical student evaluation committee will invite the student to meet with a subcommittee of the medical student evaluation committee to review the student’s overall academic performance and discuss academic expectations, approach, and resources. Subsequently, communication will be sent to the student outlining expectations and available resources.
  • Failure of a third block will result in dismissal from the college of medicine.

  • Failure of a single clerkship or elective which will be remediated. The medical student evaluation committee will be notified of the clerkship or elective failure. The medical student evaluation committee will invite the student to meet with a subcommittee of the medical student evaluation committee to review the student’s overall academic performance and discuss academic expectations, approach, and resources. Subsequently, communication will be sent to the student outlining expectations and available resources.
  • Failure of a second clerkship or elective will result in dismissal from the college of medicine.
