The medical student evaluation committee considers the following as primary justifications for dismissal from the college of medicine:
- Phase 1: Three block failures
- Phase 2 or 3: Two clerkship or elective failures
- Failure to obtain a grade of Pass in a repeated block, clerkship or elective.
- Failure to obtain a grade of Pass in all blocks, clerkships, or electives during repetition of an academic period (semester, academic year, or Phase 1, 2, or 3).
- Failure to demonstrate improvement in academic and/or professional performance by the end of a probation period.
- A third failure on the USMLE Step 1 Exam.
- Documentation of a single serious unprofessional behavior event and/or repeated or persistent unprofessional behavior.
