Magnetic Resonance (MR) Safety Policy

This policy applies to all Radiation Therapy (RTT) students.

Policy Statement

Students entering an MR room must adhere to all MR safety policies and procedures. The magnetic eld is always on, and unsecured magnetically susceptible materials can cause injury or damage. Upon matriculation into the program, students will be educated on safety by reading the American Society of Radiologic Technologists- Magnetic Resonance Safety materials and completing the program's MR Environment Screening Form for Individuals. These documents are found in the Orientation course on Canvas. The completed screening form will be kept in the student’s records, and any questions regarding the screening process will be communicated with a certified and registered MR technologist before students rotate into the MR room.
