COPH online courses incorporate a variety of teaching and learning methods designed to support knowledge acquisition, application, and professional skill development. Courses may include formative learning activities such as discussions, reflections, quizzes, and practice exercises that help students build foundational understanding and receive ongoing feedback. As students progress through a course, learning activities often emphasize the analysis and application of public health concepts through case studies, briefs, infographics, visual maps, and examinations. Courses may also include opportunities for students to synthesize information, develop recommendations, justify decisions, and demonstrate professional competencies through presentations, projects, business plans, and final papers.
The College of Public Health follows the UNMC semester schedule, with fixed start and end dates, and offers online courses in the fall, spring, and summer. Online classes are delivered using your internet connection and the UNMC learning management system (LMS) Canvas.
Most COPH online courses are delivered in weekly modules that require you to sign in and interact multiple times each week. Each week, you will likely complete required readings and activities, watch video lectures, visit websites, conduct research, and participate in discussions and group work with your fellow students. There may also be weekly assignments, quizzes, tests, projects, and papers.
