Overview

The Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) is clinically focused on on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of women's common and complex gynecologic, sexual, obstetric, reproductive, and common primary healthcare needs. The WHNP provides holistic, person-centered care for women from adolescence throughout the adult lifespan, and for men's sexual and reproductive health. The WHNP emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention and provides care inclusive of all gender identities and sexual orientations. The WHNP is a woman specialized focus, meaning that the WHNP is prepared to work independently and collaboratively as an expert in women's health, providing care and consultation for women's health needs, while also providing leadership in health systems and communities to improve the health of women.

Career opportunities include but are not limited to outpatient clinics with a focus on obstetrics and gynecology, primary care, urogynecology, maternal fetal medicine, fertility, gynecology oncology, family planning, HIV, STI, transgender health, and inpatient women's health and obstetric triage units.
