Doctor of Medicine
The candidate for this degree must have completed the prescribed curriculum and passed the necessary examinations in accordance with the graduation requirements.
Degree with Distinction
In recognition of outstanding academic excellence, the College may award the degree of Doctor of Medicine with distinction, with high distinction or with highest distinction.
Graduation with honors is conferred accordingly:
A candidate receiving the degree of Doctor of Medicine with Highest Distinction have distinguished themselves both academically, by ranking in the upper three-to-five percent of their class, and in independent study by receiving a “honors” designation on their M.D. thesis. Their medallion is identified by a combination of a white and red ribbon.
A candidate receiving the degree of Doctor of Medicine with High Distinction have distinguished themselves in course work by ranking in the upper five percent of their class or are in the upper ten-to-fifteen percent of their class and have also received a “honors” designation on their M.D. thesis. Their medallion is identified by a white ribbon.
A candidate receiving the degree of Doctor of Medicine with Distinction have distinguished themselves either in course work by ranking in the upper ten-to-fifteen percent of their class or in independent study by receiving a “honors” designation on their M.D. thesis. Their medallion is identified by a red ribbon.
