CYTO 601 DIAGNOSTIC CYTOLOGY I 7.5 Credit Hours
This course covers five sections (Introduction to Cytology and Cytopreparations, Cytology of Female Genital Tract, Cytology of Respiratory Tract, Cytology of Urinary Tract, and Cytology of Body Fluids and Cerebrospinal Fluids) providing preparation training necessary for students to: Learn the principles of microscopy and cytopreparation; Describe the cytomorphology of normal, infectious inflammatory disorders, benign conditions, malignant conditions and metastatic conditions in the cytology specimens of: Female Genital Tract (FGT), Respiratory Tract (RT), Urinary Tract (UT), Body Cavity Fluids (BCF) Cerebrospinal Fluids (CSF).

CYTO 602 DIAGNOSTIC CYTOLOGY II 7.5 Credit Hours
This course covers two sections (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology and Companion Technologies) providing preparations necessary for students to: Describe the cytomorphology of normal, infectious inflammatory disorders, benign conditions, malignant conditions and metastatic conditions in the cytology specimens of Fine Needle Aspiration; Explain the procedures and results of flow cytometry, molecular diagnostics, in situ hybridization, immunocytochemistry, special stains and electron microscopy as they apply to cytology specimens and final interpretations.

CYTO 603 DIAGNOSTIC CYTOLOGY III 3 Credit Hours
This four-weeks course covers two sections (Grossing Techniques for Small Biopsies and Advanced Practices in Cytology) and provides preparations necessary for the students to: Explain the process of gross examination of small biopsy specimens according to established laboratory protocols and the submission of tissue for preparation of microscopic slides; Describe the advanced cytology practices such as morphologic correlation of histologic tissue samples to cytology specimens and developing differential diagnoses.

CYTO 611 FOUNDATIONAL CLINICAL PRACTICUM I 2.5 Credit Hours
This course covers five sections (Introduction to Cytology Cytopreparations, Cytology of Female Genital Tract, Cytology of Respiratory Tract, Cytology of Urinary Tract, and Cytology of Body Fluids Cerebrospinal Fluids) providing training necessary for students to: Apply the principles of microscopy and cytopreparation, microscopically Identify and interpret normal, infectious inflammatory disorders, benign conditions, malignant conditions, and metastatic conditions in the cytology specimens of: Female Genital Tract (FGT); Respiratory tract (RT); Urinary tract (UT); Body Cavity Fluids (BCF); Cerebrospinal Fluids (CSF)

CYTO 612 FOUNDATIONAL CLINICAL PRACTICUM II 2.5 Credit Hours
This course covers two sections (FNA Cytology and Companion Technologies) providing clinical training for students to: Interpret cytology specimens obtained from the breast, thyroid, salivary gland, lymph nodes, soft tissue, bone, mediastinum, gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, kidney, adrenal gland, and brain; Triage FNA cytology specimens for ancillary studies (to include when appropriate: cell block preparation, microbiology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular analysis) using appropriate transport media.

CYTO 613 FOUNDATIONAL CLINICAL PRACTICUM III 1 Credit Hour
This four-week course covers two sections (Grossing Techniques for Small Biopsies and Advanced Practices in Cytology) providing training for students to microscopically interpret cytology and histology specimens obtained from any of the body sites.

CYTO 618 CYTOLOGY CLINICAL ROTATION I 6 Credit Hours
This eight-week course (40 hours/week) gives students a supervised experience in cytology clinical laboratories and other selected advanced pathology sections (Flow, Molecular, Immuno, Gross room, etc). Students will screen glass slides daily (GYN, Non-GYN, FNA), participate in clinical procedures, and process specimens in the Cytopreparation Clinical Laboratory.

CYTO 712 DIAGNOSTIC CYTOLOGY IV 5.5 Credit Hours
This course covers three sections (Digital Pathology, Anatomic Pathology Management, and Capstone Project) providing preparations necessary for students to: Define and explain the theory, principles, and indications for techniques in cytology/pathology; and to utilize clinical digital cytology/pathology as part of a diagnostic team; Comprehend the activities required for the management of an Anatomic Pathology Laboratory; Demonstrate competence in how to work through a difficult cytology patient case.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of CYTO 603 613 or Permission from the Program Director.

CYTO 718 CYTOLOGY CLINICAL ROTATION II 4 Credit Hours

CYTO 721 COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM REVIEW 1 Credit Hour
This two-week course provides a comprehensive review for the students to prepare for the national American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification Examination.

CYTO 722 FOUNDATIONAL CLINICAL PRACTICUM IV 1.5 Credit Hours
This 8-week course provides training for students to demonstrate the diagnostic accuracy in screening cytology specimens and perform the activities required for the management of an Anatomic Pathology Laboratory.
